Infrastructure is the backbone of a country's economic system. Understanding of the significant role of infrastructure for the economic and social development of Vietnam, Bitexco Group has determined to select infrastructure as another core business.

In the sector of hydroelectricity power, Bitexco planned a clear road map for its penetration to build up its capability and expertise by participating in projects from small to big scale under from passive to active position. Today Bitexco's hydropower portfolio has strongly grown up with 13 hydropower plants, 7 of which are now under operation. Most of these hydropower projects are located in provinces of remote areas, poor condition and underdeveloped stand. When completed, these projects will contribute largely to the economic, social and cultural development of these areas.

In the road and highway sector Bitexco Group has been promoting the role of private sector in contributing to the development of the country. With its active involvement in infrastructure investments, Bitexco became the first domestic private corporation which earns the strong support from The World Bank to conduct a pilot expressway project under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The Government's enacting of PPP mechanism and the successful implementation of the pilot project will officially open up a new channel of capital raising for infrastructure investment which has never been properly mobilized before – the funding channel from private sector.

Hydro Power Plants

Bitexco Group currently invested in 13 hydro-power projects with the total output of more than 600 megawatts (MW). Despite facing many difficulties and challenges during construction phase, Bitexco's hydro-power projects are always undertaken on schedule.

Currenty there are 7 projects under operation: Can Don, Nam Mu , Na Loi, Binh Dien, Ho Ho, Se San 3A and Eakrong Rou. Among those of Bitexco independent development, Nho Que 3 project in the provinde of Ha Giang is the largest, with an output of 110 MW, and is due to be in operation in 2011. This is considered the vital project in the development of the Meo Vac district, in Ha Giang.

Road and Highway

Currently, Bitexco Group has 4 major investments in road and highway projects: Dau Giay – Phan Thiet Expressway - Thanh Hoa By-pass - BT. Chu Van An Road, and - BT. Road connecting Highway
